Variety of Fish

Largemouth Bass

Largemouth bass are keenly sought after by anglers and are noted for the excitement of their 'fight,' meaning how vigorously the fish resists being hauled into the boat or onto shore after being hooked. The fish will often become airborne in their effort to throw the hook!

Tilapia

Tilapias are very territorial during their fry-rearing season and spawning. During this time, Tilapia become aggressive to virtually anything that comes closer to their spawning beds.

Catfish

Understanding the different catfish species and their different behaviors helpful to being a successful catfish angler.  Many of those who have fished El Novillo have caught catfish of all three types, even when fishing for bass or tilapia.  How do you know which type you chomped down on your bait or lure?

Carp

The Common Carp is one of the hardest fighting freshwater fish, and the sport is rapidly growing with Anglers catching them using all methods of traditional angling including fly fishing!

Blue Gills

Considered one of the most popular panfish in North America, the prolific bluegill can be identified by the length of its pectoral fin. If the fin extends beyond the fish’s eye when folded towards its mouth, the sunfish is usually a bluegill.

Crappies

The name crappie can refer to either the white crappie, which is lighter in color with vertical black stripes, or the black crappie, which is and darker with a pattern of black spots. Both species are similar in size, shape, and habits.
